Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a dental treatment that helps straighten teeth that are positioned incorrectly. Everyone wants a beautiful smile. Orthodontic treatment is an ideal procedure to follow to get that perfect smile. An attractive smile enhances self-esteem and builds confidence.
Dr Reddy and associates will make use of x-rays and other dental tools to establish whether you need orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment plays a vital role in improving overall oral health and leads to a lifetime of healthy and attractive smiles. Orthodontics do more than straighten crooked teeth; they also correct irregularities of the bite and facial structures in the mouth and jaw area. The goal in orthodontic dental treatment is to achieve balance and harmony between the teeth and face resulting in a beautiful smile.
There are different ways of doing orthodontics, including:
Removable orthodontic appliances.
This type of orthodontic appliance is used to treat minor problems such as skew teeth correcting or to prevent thumb sucking. The appliance should only be removed when the patient is eating, flossing or cleaning the appliance.
Traditionally fixed orthodontics.
Most commonly used in orthodontics, fixed orthodontics are braces, fixed space maintainers and especially fixed appliances. The patient should avoid eating certain hard foods such as toffee and biltong, and will need to visit the dentist once a month to adjust the braces.
Clear removable aligners.
Clear aligners are a series of translucent positioners offered to patients as an alternative to fixed braces. Each positioner is designed to fit over the teeth and guide them into the desired position.
Myofunctional orthodontics: Diagnosis and treatment (Myobrace)
During consultations, it’s also important to look at a range of the patient’s characteristics. Soft tissue dysfunction, mode of breathing, occlusion (the way that the top and bottom teeth fit on one another), dental relationship, and arch form are all important considerations when diagnosing and treating patients.
General & Kids Dentistry
Everybody in our centre welcomes children. Our relaxed environment will help create a positive first impression. Many times it will determine the course of future dentistry for the young individual’s adolescent and adult experiences.
We strive to give them extra attention and care, with our prime objective being the creation of trust and confidence. This is stressed during the first appointment, in which no actual treatment is carried out, but only a playful introduction to the dentist, the dental equipment and tools, after which an examination is completed.
On treatment days, smaller children feel much safer than when on the parent’s lap. They get to explore all the tools the dentist uses. All procedures are first demonstrated on something else out of the mouth. All these measures including the actual filling of a single tooth may take an entire hour.
All fillings are biocompatible and tooth-coloured. Nothing is done by force, but with understanding and mutual trust. If needed, fear and anxiety are handled with natural remedies and colour therapy.
It is essential to understand that children are quick to pick up stresses and nervousness from their parents. For this reason,“ sharp” language is avoided; “be brave now, it’s not going to hurt, there is nothing to be afraid of, if you are brave, we’ll give you a sweet to…” are often phrases used by nervous parents and are counterproductive. Instead, our experienced team knows how to relax our patients and to make the experience a positive one to remember.
Parents have to realise that children under the age of 5 may not co-operate, even when all these measures are taken. This is particularly true if they have already been through traumatic experiences, or if their dental decay is so extensive that painless dentistry cannot be avoided. In such a case, the only options left would be to arrange a visit to the community dental clinic which can use sedation.
Aesthetic Dentistry
Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth surface from damage.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown, sometimes known as a dental cap is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Dental crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth.
Digital smile design
DSD is a multipurpose conceptual protocol to aesthetic dentistry through digital technology.
Full mouth rehabilitation and restoration
Full mouth rehabilitation and restoration are terms that are often used interchangeably to describe the process of rebuilding or simultaneously restoring all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.
Re-establish a bite/ facial height, and aesthetics on a bruxer (one who grinds and clenches their teeth and has worn away their enamel and dentine).
Pigmented gingival reductions using a laser.
Lasers are an effective and a safe means of removal of hyperpigmentation from the gingiva. Healing was uneventful, and usually, no re-pigmentation occurs.
Botox to drop the smile line to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile
The transformation from no teeth (edentulous) to a permanent solution of ceramic bridges in the mouth with the use of dental titanium implant screws placed in the jaw bone.
Detailed Comprehensive Dental and Facial Consultation
Includes the use of:
A clinical assessment consists of an evaluation of your face (bones and soft tissue) as well as the inside of your mouth: New literature shows the relationship between your posture muscles used during swallowing, chewing and speaking of your body, as well as mouth breathing, has lasting effects on the facial growth of the face, as well as the position of the teeth.
Dental and medical history: Depending on dental, whole body health status and level of complexity of symptoms, patients will undertake one of three types of assessments:
Basic comprehensive dental assessment.
Basic comprehensive dental and detailed medical history.
Full comprehensive dental and medical history with laboratory investigations (blood assessments/ Hain periodontal health)
Vital signs test: Visual acuity, mineral-testing, blood pressure, oxygenation, Vitamin D, and immune modulation nutrition.
Radiographic dental x-rays: Panorex (full jaw view) and periapical (single tooth zoomed in view).
Dental photography: High definition images using a macro lens and flash to view and discuss your treatment in full view.
Dental models: To reconstruct the full 3rd view of the teeth, and the relationship of top and bottom jaw with one another.
Deep cleaning & other oral hygiene / cleaning methods
Hain test
A hain test is a simple, accurate test to mark specific bacteria or pathogens in your mouth that are associated with periodontal disease. This allows the rate of the therapy to significantly increase the success while the relapse rate is dramatically reduced.
Piezoelectric scaler
The piezoelectric scaler is excellent for plaque and calculus. The use of Piezo scalers are much faster and also result in less operator wrist fatigue than hand scaling.
Laser
The laser dramatically decreases the number of deep pockets bacteria and lowers the microbial count. The laser kills the germs over a large area of the infected root, tissues, and bone. It does this with the laser light tuned to the harmful bacteria shining through the contaminated areas, like a flashlight that shines through the back of your hand killing germs as the laser beam penetrates and sees only the harmful microbes and infected tissue. Kill rates of disease-producing germs have been reported as high as 99.9% in the scientific literature.
Biomechanical irrigation
The technique has been shown to provide an efficient means of application of anti-plaque and anti-inflammatory agents under the gum margins.
Oxysafe gel and mouth-wash.
Oxysafe gel and mouth-wash are a patented oxygen technology that acts from the outside to the inside by quickly penetrating the bacterial biofilm in the gum tissue. The anaerobic bacteria are destroyed, and a regenerating effect is activated in the inflamed swollen gum tissue. All the above procedures allow for the non-surgical periodontal restoration of health.

Fillings
Our practice is 100% amalgam and metal free.
Biodentine is a revolutionary product that is now available in South Africa, it allows for regeneration of the tooth’s natural dentine layer, thereby preventing invasive root canal treatments.
Biodentine is a bioactive and biocompatible dentine that substitutes the changes to your practice. Biodentine is also a calcium-silicate material used for vital pulp therapy, for deep carious nerve exposures, and when the patient will not consider endodontic treatment.
Ceramic Fillings
Inlays or onlays are the conservative approaches to building up your tooth when more than 60% of the natural tooth structure gets lost. The ceramic filling is a conservative, better option than a dental crown by protecting the remaining enamel and dentine. It uses high-grade lithium disilicate emax and zirconia dental materials.
